TOUR DESCRIPTION

Would you like to join us, on 2023 for a photo tour, to see the and photograph the mystical isle of Skye.

We will take you to the Isle of Skye, the largest of the inner Hebridean islands thats located on the west coast of Scotland, via Glen Coe, Buachaille Etive Mòr, Fort William Ben Nevis, Glenfinnan, Glenfinnan viaduct known for the Hogwarts Express to Mallaig, then across on the ferry to Skye.

During our 4 hour 6 day tour of Skye we will circle part of the island almost every day in search of photographic opportunities, that may change daily due to the unforeseen weather patterns that Scotland can bring.

The sun rises and sun sets here on Skye are like no other and can be a photographers dream.
We will come home via Kyle of Lochalsh and back to Edinburgh or Glasgow.

The island of Skye has stunningly beautiful scenery, offering many photographic opportunities, which include Land, Sea and Mountain scapes with endless waterfalls and fairies in the hidden glens.

Or there’s uncountable chances to practice your macro Photography on the colourful rocks and flowers that surround the isle of skye. Here you can find some of the oldest rocks in the world, where flora and fauna grow and roam in the mountain ranges of the Cuillin mountains, or in the low lying Glens and lava flows that ran towards the sea, 250 million years ago.
Sometimes if we are lucky you could see whales dolphins or eagles that frequent this area

Bring long lens for wild life shots.Wide angle for Land and Sea scapes, Marco for close up.

Photograph the Sunset at the most epic lighthouse that you could ever imagine, or visit Sligachan for a spectacular mountain river scape. We will visit the colourful small town of Portree that has everything to offer. Or you could even walk in the new footsteps of the dinosaurs that have been recently found. On each daily tour, there will be many opportunities to stop for longer periods than usual, to photograph the many sights that Skye has to offer on our photographic shoot of Skye.

Tuition will be given for every kind of technique that will be required for our photoshoot.

We have full frame and crop Canon and Nikon camera's and lens for hire if required .

ABOUT US

I’m Marianne and I was born in a small fishing village called Tromvik.
It’s on the north west coast of Norway, on the island of Kvaløya, where I run summer and winter Photographic tours of my home land.
I fell in love with Scotland 10 years ago when I met my long term partner on a photoshoot there on the isle of Skye.
He is a Professional photographer and has travelled the length and breadth of Scotland time after time.
We both specialise in natural and low light photography and all things rural, including the flora and fauna that grows and roams in both Scotland and Norway.
Both our guides and I, have a lifetimes experience in photography.
Together we have a Genuine lifetimes Passion for photography, and all things rural that’s like no other that I have ever seen in my life.
And its the genuine passion that makes us unique .

Group Size

We have a small group of 14 students usually 7 each mini van .

• Extra food or Drinks out - with basic menu.
• Flights or travel before and after pick up point.
• Photographic Equipment of any kind unless on -hire from us.
• Insurance – It is MANDATORY to insure yourself against physical injury. I also advise that you insure your photographic equipment. Tour leaders will not be responsible in the event of any personal injuries or damage to photographic gear as a result of an accident during the workshop.

USING YOUR OWN CAMERA EQUIPMENT/ What to pack

What to pack?.... We would recommend you to bring the following:
SLR Camera, Various lenses, filters, Polariser, spare batteries, memory cards, charger, pc / hard-drive and laptop to download images.
Remember an adaptor for a uk 3 pin plug .
Woolen thermal underwear is recommended, bring good hiking boots and warm sweater, water proof jacket, gloves and hat, just in case its cold, in this ever changing world that we live in.

A Digital DSLR with detachable lens is best.

We hire professional and semi professional camera equipment for landscape ,and wildlife photography.

HELP & ADVICE

In this Workshop we’ll cover the following topics and techniques:

FOOD & REFRESHMENTS

Food:

We will provide you with a full Scottish breakfast if required and a basic lunch box to take out for the day.

If you prefer you can supply your own.

We will make dinner together in the evening on return to the hostel.

During the tour, there will be shops that we can stop at to buy snacks if necessary.
Or there will be opportunity to stop at restaurant / cafe where you can purchase a meal, at your own expense.

Getting here

You can fly either to Edinburgh or Glasgow airport, at your own expense.
We will pick you up at the chosen point on first day of  tour.

Accommodation

On the first night we will stay in the Fort William area.

We will stay overnight at a room sharing, self catering hostel on the isle of Skye, for the remainder of the tour .

We will have someone who will cook breakfast and evening meals if required or you can eat and cook your own food.

You may have to share a room with someone else, but if you wanted to be alone in any of the above rooms you would need to buy the complete room and pay for each bed in the room .

We have Two twin rooms, Three four bedded rooms and Two six bedded rooms, all bookings are on a first come first serve basis .
You can choose to stay at a nearby hotel, or b&b, for which you will need to cover the cost of each individual by yourself.

We will be spending most of our time outdoors, so it’s really just a place to secure your our belongings, shower, sleep, recharge our batteries and enjoy a delicious Scottish breakfast.

CLOTHING REQUIRED

Weather: The Scottish weather as they say, "If you don’t like the weather, just wait a minute ” do expect variable conditions, sunshine, rain, cloud or wind.
After all, it is what makes Scotland as it is.

Please wear good footwear as this is the first part of your body to get cold and can be very difficult to warm up again. Please don’t wear trainers or dress shoes if you can help it. For your own comfort and safety, good, tough boots are best.
